[Amazing how giddy he felt about all of this. Twenty minutes later there was David loading up into the car with towels and a bag of snacks, and in swim gear. Oh, and with a big container of good sunscreen made up by a mutant friend of his on the island. And he leaned over to kiss Kyle happily.]

You know, I'm not really used to going to the beach.

[Kyle is beaming. He looks honestly happier than he has in weeks.

He turns on some music and pulls the car out of their spot.]

Should we go to Baker? The internet says it's the best beach in San Francisco.

Your point? Doesn't mean I will go to the beach a lot.

[He grins at the question. If Kyle's looked into it, then he can definitely default to the decision.]

Sounds good. People tend to have beach preferences listed in emotional areas I think, so I don't know what is best. If you looked into it, then I want it.

I mean, true. We live right by San Fran and I don't think we've been there more than twice.

Or! [He looks over at David and grins.] We can drive a little further to go someplace less crowded. I read Seal Cove has tide pools and a cypress forest.

If there are tide pools that sounds more rocky, and not as good for swimming?

Oh, maybe? I dunno, I'm from Colorado I'm not used to ocean beaches.

Yeah, you know what? I totally do. For a beach with tide pools where I might just sit around and look at stuff forever, I wanna pack a full lunch.

[He sets a course for the beach, marveling as they go over bridges because he's still not used to all that water.]
