[Tommy is and probably always will be a little wary of putting down roots he can't pull up and move on with at a moment's notice, if his team blows up, if he's not wanted, if something goes south. So month to month had worked fine for him. If he'd gotten kicked out, he could always have crashed with David or Billy for a week or so until he found another place.
