Well that's nice. He gets to his feet and offers his hand to his lover.

"Yeah, you can. I've got a few things your hands can be used for."

Jean-Paul snorts. "Yeah, I know you do." He lets David help him up and then follows him to the kitchen. He eyes the fridge, wishing he could go back in time to prevent himself from breaking things. He really does have a terrible temper.

"Boss me around, love of my life."

"Always tempting," David just about purrs before starting into getting out salad makings. "Get me a nice salad going. I'm doing a full three courses. So very small salads, made just for us."

Though left overs mean things he can take to work.

"I can do salad tossing." Said without a hint of humor. He takes what David has given him and pulls out a cutting board so he can slice up the grape tomatoes.

"Can we open the champagne I didn't break or is that for dinner proper?"

He really does feel badly about it, but this is Jean-Paul and he's terrible at apologising.

“I only bought the one bottle. I was hoping to save it for dessert.”

Though he can be convinced to do otherwise.

"Non, let's save it." He tries to focus on the salad then, but he keeps stealing glances at David.

"God, you're beautiful."

Beautiful? David pauses and smiles, looking back over his shoulder at his lover before turning his attention to the seriousness of his food.

"And you're a work of pure art."

"Well, yes," he agrees. So modest. "But that's obvious. I'm not sure you've been told often enough."

It earns a chuckle and he turns to look at his partner.

"I adore you, more than anything. I love you, JP, and I love you talking about how beautiful I am."

He nods, smiling softly. "If I didn't suck at poetry I'd be writing about you daily."

He dumps more ingredients into the salad bowl and tosses it. "I think this is done."

"Then I guess you get to stand there and admire me. My whole timing for the night is off."

All Tommy's fault. And that stupid warlock.

"Non, David." Jean-Paul moves, coming up behind David to wrap his arms around his middle. He rests his chin on David's shoulder.

"Look. We had a bad start, but that's not the fault of your timing. If anything it's mine." A kiss to the cheek.

"David? I am sorry. It's important I say it out loud."

Yeah, it really is important to have heard it. He sighs and leans back against Jean-Paul.

"I love you, and I'm sorry. You're my everything, and it's hard sometimes, to deal with all of it. The fear. But perhaps we only fear it because, well, this is so right. We're just so good."

"It doesn't help that I'm an asshole." Because he was is. He knows he is. "And that's not an excuse. I shouldn't have reacted how I did."

He sighs. "We ARE good."

"You're an asshole, I'm a superior know it all, we've both got flaws," David dismisses quite easily. Though... after a moment he nods.

"You may have acted before thinking, though."

"I did. As I often do."

He thinks for a moment, then nods. "I will work on it. Truly."

"I know," David agrees. But if nothing else, he was pretty certain the two of them wouldn't really work with flirting with a third person.

He kisses David's cheek. "It was just the shock. I wasn't expecting him."

"You were probably expecting it more than me," David says, shuddering. Because wow, he hadn't wanted that.

"Dinner's in about another twenty if you want to clean up or something like that."

He nods, but pauses. "ARE you okay? I can beat him up, you know."

Is he okay? No. He's angry. So angry. But... violence is too much.

"Thanks for the offer. But I'll pass. For now. If he does it again, you're up to bat."

"Alright." He is willing to drop it, for now. He does think privately he might still punch Tommy out the next time he sees him.

David... might not think a black eye or two would be remiss. Especially if he had enough time to tell Tommy's twin not to freak out over it. Any man should expect a serious boyfriend to get mad if you made moves on their man.

"I can typically defend my own honor, beloved.

"I know. You're very tough." Said lovingly, and without a whisper of sarcasm. Jean-Paul knows full well how resilient David is.

For a moment David freezes. He... isn't resilient. Not... in the ways HE thinks matters. He's died now, twice. And in the process hurt the people he loves.

"I'm just lucky, Jean-Paul."
