I enjoyed it. And I guess I'll get back to enjoying it, at some point.

It's strange to think everything has been put on pause, reportedly. It puts me in mind of an entire frozen universe, just waiting for me.

Perhaps it isn't waiting on you. Perhaps this place exists in the space between moments of time. But yeah. It's sometimes hard to consider this place when you realize that in the end you go back like nothing happened.

But seriously, I get it. How can one find value in growth as a person if it all wipes when we go home? Instead you have to find it in what you can do for others.

I like that. What you can do for others, and what you create here. There's quite a lot of legacy projects and programs left by exPorted imPorts. I read that in the world that used to draw in imPorts before this one, they even managed to alter the moon.

I live my life trying to do things for others. Because... because there is only so much time and I really want to use what is given to me the right way.

I guess it was. Of course, if you saw my life before the events immediately preceding my arrival here, you'd hardly call me one.

I had a dead end call center job. Doing on the fly super tech support. Helping advise on bomb defusing or taking down heroes or helping translate ancient runes.

I hope you can appreciate the exciting life it takes to make you consider that boring.

Customer support means massive idiots who should not be dealing with heroics.

How’d you end up with the job?

A lot of complicated things happened that basically got me classified as a potential terrorist and this place didn’t care?

You can't just say that alone, David. I have absolutely nothing going on, and have to hear this story.

It was a mutant thing. We were highly reduced in numbers and needed somewhere to go. San Francisco accepted us for a while. When that went south a powerful magnetokinetic pulled an asteroid up from the water outside of the city and we settled there. The government didn’t like there being a separatist mutant nation so close. Branded us as terrorists. The end?

What job did you have before that that it cost you?

I... Didn't have a job before, Damian. I was nineteen when I got the call center job.

Well, I guess you could consider acting as a substitute teacher, power trainer, and more or less head of logistics for a relatively small nation by the time I was eighteen a job.

My powers manifested at sixteen. I was at Xavier's just before my seventeenth birthday. San Francisco and Utopia from late seventeen through eighteen and part of nineteen. call center job until nineteen, and just hit twenty. Then I came here.

[Technically it was january for him when he got here, so he's definitely making use of the difference in months to fuck up his age a little to be taken more seriously. But it's only about a seven month skew so it isn't so bad.]

Basically, I was doing a lot of strange stuff since I was sixteen.

And that doesn't include the stuff that happened in the four months leading up to my arrival here. I've done a bit.
