I went there because it was a Guild accommodation and I did not have enough money to rent a house without the Guild.

[ also because no one from the Alliance told Kaneki what he can and can not do as a ghoul, so he is just doing everything that seems to be acceptable with the Guild, trying to do everything right. Kaneki doesn't know what sort of life he is allowed to have here; in his world, he would not be allowed to live at all if anyone knew he is a ghoul, but here they just let him walk on his own - which is nice!, but also really scary because he has no clue what they are thinking and he fears he might do something wrong and they will just decide to kill him after all. ]

If my body can't digest it, I will just vomit it out after. [ kaneki doesn't mind getting sick if it's to fix himself. Plus, human food is not a fast acting poison - rather, it's something that will leave them sluggish, sick, weak, and they won't be able to heal and fight properly, but he never heard of ghouls dying from eating it ]

My residence will only be occupied by me this weekend, and the weather is going to dip. May I finally have you over for an evening beside the fire?

[ He sends that first, then reads it back at least a dozen times. It's taken him half the morning to even send this much. They've seen each other the last month, yes, but between work and Peter and Eddie and Balthier hopes David's roommate and not him, it's been short dates, never in private. Somewhere in that time he's started to worry that that wonderful last day in the Diadem had been too much, that David's just been too indirect to tell him. But he's still going out with him, still saying I love you. But didn't Wilhere do that too?

But Scions, he wants to have David for more than a few hours, and he's already indicated the house is empty. Does that message speak enough for it? Or should he be clear?

You are welcome to plan to stay the night, or decide that evening, or neither. I just want to have you to myself for awhile.

[ He feels superfluous and needy after he sends it, so he might flip his phone over and go occupy himself with something for awhile. ]

[The text makes David mindful of the fact that he's been working hard to keep Balthier from his own place, and damn but he feels guilty about that. So this invitation isn't something he can deny. It's going to be good.]

[ Relief, when he finally looks at his phone. But not a clear yes on staying the night, so he makes a note not to push, presuming a boundary that he's missed somewhere. ]

I would be delighted, though I'll admit my kitchen is not particularly stocked. I'll send you images of what I have.

[ They come a few hours later. A good enameled cast-iron pan, two quality knives, a fine wooden cutting board, a few stainless steel mixing bowls, a single glass baking pan, and two spatulas. There are also two beat-up frying pans that Eddie and Peter use but Balthier presumes David won't want to use those. ]

Oh bless you, I was going to ask for images. If you're not offended, I'll bring groceries for cooking what I need. And maybe tools. I want to make you something special.

Should I also bring extra blankets/pillows for the night? I'm not sure how prepared you are for a guest that wasn't providing for themselves.

I don't wish to alter your kitchen built the way you like it, by asking you to buy tools I would use. Not yet. I'd rather you get your own feel first. A kitchen is special space.

[ He hesitates on the latter. He knows what he wants, but he doesn't want to be too forward and he's having trouble deciding if David feels the same or this is a soft ask for space. But then why would he stay the night? ]

I have bedding and related supplies covered, but thank you. As to the kitchen, I will remind you I have been sharing it, but the sentiment is appreciated.

Just because you have been sharing it doesn't mean you want to deal with my, and forgive me if you think this is me insulting myself but it's true, anal retentive nature toward kitchens. Comes with the whole chef thing.
